The Pixie Dust Pals Plan...EPCOT

Welcome back to the Pixie Dust Pals plan! Since we started this series, planning a Disney vacation has changed quite a bit. We will try to update this post as things change but also want you to be able to use this info no matter the current planning process!

Growing up, EPCOT was never my favorite park. It didn’t have rides I enjoyed, and I was really scared of the “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" 3D show (those spiders…am I right?!) I didn’t truly understand the appeal until I went in high school with my dance team and got to explore the World Showcase and ride Soarin’, which had just debuted. Of course now that I am over 21 it holds another special appeal (I’m talking about you, avocado margarita).

Lightning Bolt Baby Shower

Life in the time of COVID means many fun things have had to be canceled or postponed, including my dear friends Caity and Jason’s baby shower. Along with my Madison gal pals, we schemed to stupefy these HP-loving parents to be with a Harry Potter themed, socially distant celebration. Putting these magical details together was as easy giving your wand a swish and flick so we’re sharing them today!

The Pixie Dust Pals Plan...the Magic Kingdom!

It’s one of the most frequent questions we get about Walt Disney World: which is your favorite park? I generally respond that you wouldn’t ask a mother to pick her favorite child and I love them all. HOWEVER, if we’re doing a day at Disney, and we can only choose one park, I’m choosing the one with the most Pixie Dust: the Magic Kingdom. Allison even threw me a baby shower themed around the lands in the Magic Kingdom! Given that some of our most beloved experiences (fireworks!) are currently on pause, we are going to share an ideal day filled with our favorites in food and fun from our *favorite* park! (Shh don’t tell the others.)

Ohana at Home + Dole Whip Mimosa Recipe

One of our very favorite dining reservations to snag is dinner at Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. In fact, I would wager it’s our most repeated reservation, and we even got it for room service when we stayed at the Polynesian. What makes Ohana so great? The atmosphere really can’t be beat – you’re treated like ohana and waited on by aunts, uncles and cousins, and if you time your dinner right, you can even catch the Magic Kingdom fireworks right at your table. The entertainment is a blast – a character meal during breakfast and a luau style show for kids with dinner. The star of the show, though, is the food. Especially for dinner where you get course after course of Polynesian-inspired dishes served ohana style. I’ve never left a meal there anything less than absolutely stuffed. So when the Disney Parks Blog posted the recipe for Ohana’s famed wings, I decided I wanted to cook up an Ohana-inspired meal for my own ohana. I found several recipes online and made a few changes to make them dairy and gluten free.
