The Pixie Dust Pals Plan...the Magic Kingdom!

Welcome back to the Pixie Dust Pals plan! Since we started this series, planning a Disney vacation has changed quite a bit. We will try to update this post as things change but also want you to be able to use this info no matter the current planning process!

It’s one of the most frequent questions we get about Walt Disney World: which is your favorite park? I generally respond that you wouldn’t ask a mother to pick her favorite child and I love them all. HOWEVER, if we’re doing a day at Disney, and we can only choose one park, I’m choosing the one with the most Pixie Dust: the Magic Kingdom. Allison even threw me a baby shower themed around the lands in the Magic Kingdom! Given that some of our most beloved experiences (fireworks!) are currently on pause, we are going to share an ideal day filled with our favorites in food and fun from our *favorite* park! (Shh don’t tell the others.)

Nothing brings us joy quite like entering the Magic Kingdom and turning to look down Main Street, USA toward Cinderella Castle. Our ideal morning? Getting to the park as early as we can, grabbing coffee and a sweet treat at the Main Street Bakery and strolling leisurely toward the castle. No better start to the day!

FOOD

  • Breakfast: Sleepy Hollow – After first breakfast on Main Street, we like to do second breakfast at Sleepy Hollow. Our order? We split the egg and ham breakfast sandwich and the Nutella waffle. You can grab a table in the shade with a perfect view of the castle.

  • Lunch: Be Our Guest – As you might know, we once flew to Orlando just to get the French Onion Soup here. It’s that good. Our favorite lunch spot where we can be transported into Allison’s favorite film, Beauty and the Beast.

  • Dinner:

    • Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen – This table service location has become one of our favorites for a tasty and healthful meal in the Magic Kingdom. It offers food inspired by the areas you travel in the Jungle Cruise: South America, Africa and Asia

    • Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café – My favorite foods in life are Mexican and burgers, and Pecos Bill serves both. If we don’t have time for a table service meal, this quick service spot is our go to!

  • Snacks

    • Big Top Souvenirs – If I close my eyes, I can just imagine the warm, sugary smells that fill your nose upon entering Big Top Souvenirs. Be sure to leave with at least one extra cake pop or Mickey Krispie!

    • Aloha Isle – This Adventureland spot is all about the Dole Whip, which you obviously cannot miss. Sunshine Tree Terrace will also offer a few Dole Whip delicacies!

    • Main Street Confectionery – We usually get our afternoon sweet treat at Big Top and our evening sweet treat at the Main Street Confectionery. It’s Mickey Krispie heaven!

FUN

  • Classics

    • Mickey’s Philharmagic – When possible, we like this to be our first “ride” of the day. It’s the perfect Disney primer to get you in the mood for a day filled with fun.

    • Prince Charming Regal Carousel – being that a carousel inspired Disneyland in the first place, you almost have to take a spin on this one

    • Peter Pan’s Flight – this ride has a special sort of nostalgia, and we especially love flying over a starry London

    • Dumbo – not only can you see an elephant fly, you can ride one on this classic!

    • Mad Tea Party – we’re not super into spinning, but we love this ride for the photo op, if nothing else!

    • It’s A Small World – considering I themed my son’s nursery around the happiest cruise that ever sailed, it’s one we don’t miss

    • Jungle Cruise – cruise the rivers of the world and discover a true wonder – the back side of water!

    • Pirates of the Caribbean – experience the ride that inspired the film. The first time I rode it, I had to really ask myself if the Jack Sparrow they’ve added to the end was actually Johnny Depp or an animatronic.

  • Thrills

    • Seven Dwarves Mine Train – the newest coaster added to the Magic Kingdom, this queue can be long but it’s a fun one and worth it to join the Dwarves as it’s off to work they go

    • Space Mountain – When it comes to a favorite ride at Disney World, it’s usually a toss up for me between Space Mountain and Tower of Terror. Ready for blast off!

    • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – We love this wild ride and never miss it! We don’t, however, suggest that you stuff your face at Pecos Bill before riding.

    • Splash Mountain – truth be told, we haven’t ridden Splash Mountain in a few years, but we are jazzed for the Princess and the Frog revamp coming soon and can’t wait to ride

    • Haunted Mansion – should this be included with the other thrill rides since it is a calm ride-through experience? YES because it is spooky and scary and Allison was so traumatized by it as a child that she didn’t ride it for 15 years.

This highlights our ideal day in the Magic Kingdom, but you really can’t go wrong with a full day here! What’s your favorite thing in the MK?
