The Pixie Dust Pals Plan...EPCOT
Welcome back to the Pixie Dust Pals plan! Since we started this series, planning a Disney vacation has changed quite a bit. We will try to update this post as things change but also want you to be able to use this info no matter the current planning process!
Growing up, EPCOT was never my favorite park. It didn’t have rides I enjoyed, and I was really scared of the “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" 3D show (those spiders…am I right?!) I didn’t truly understand the appeal until I went in high school with my dance team and got to explore the World Showcase and ride Soarin’, which had just debuted. Of course now that I am over 21 it holds another special appeal (I’m talking about you, avocado margarita).
EPCOT is a great park to choose if you are looking for a day to leisurely eat, drink, and have general merriment. Here are some of our favorite parts of EPCOT.
FOOD AND DRINK
The Avocado Margarita—This is a hidden gem inside the Mexico Pavilion at the La Cava del Tequila. Don’t let the long line deter you from what is truly one of the best drinks on property.
Dinner at Le Cellier Steakhouse—If you’re looking to #treatyoself look no further than this Canadian pavilion staple. We especially enjoyed a meal here after completing the Princess Half Marathon! While the steak is delicious, the poutine is what really drew us to this restaurant.
Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich—It’s hard to choose just one sweet treat around the World Showcase, however if I had to choose just one it would have to be this snack from L’Artisan des Glaces in the France Pavilion.
Fish and Chips—Insert pretentious “I studied abroad in London” voice over here* But seriously. This classic British treat hits the spot for anyone who wants to pretend the American Revolution never happened. Pair it with a Strongbow from the adjacent Rose and Crown Pub and you have your self a loverly meal.
FUN
Character Meet and Greets—EPCOT has some EXCLUSIVE Character Meet and Greets that truly make it a destination visit for anyone looking to snag some exclusive content for the ‘gram. Pre-COVID EPCOT also featured our favorite place to meet Mickey and friends at the EPCOT Character Spot!
Soarin’—Our favorite ride at EPCOT takes you around the world in a hang glider. While we miss the smell of oranges from the original ride, this is a ride that we are always willing to wait in the stand-by line for.
Frozen Ever After—While we will always love the Maelstrom (R.I.P.) this ride is a welcome addition to the park. It’s also a great way to escape the Florida heat when visiting during the summer!
Mouse Gears—Although we love World of Disney and the Emporium on Main Street, we think Mouse Gears is one of the best Disney stores on property.
Festivals—One of the reasons EPCOT is so much fun to visit is that there’s almost always a festival happening! Our favorite is Food and Wine in the fall, however we also love visiting during the Festival of the Arts as well as the Flower and Garden Festival. The addition of these festivals brings new food, drinks, shops, and experiences to the park, making it so even if you’ve visited the park 100 times, there’s always something new for you to do.
This highlights our ideal day in EPCOT, but you really can’t go wrong with a full day here! What’s your favorite thing in the EPCOT?
