The Pixie Dust Pals Plan...Disney's Hollywood Studios

Welcome back to the Pixie Dust Pals plan! Since we started this series, planning a Disney vacation has changed quite a bit. We will try to update this post as things change but also want you to be able to use this info no matter the current planning process!

Lights, Camera, Action! Disney’s Hollywood Studios has arguably undergone the largest transformation over the past few years of all of the parks. While we have not yet been able to experience two of the park’s most exciting recent additions—we’re looking at you Rise of the Resistance and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway (RIP Great Movie Ride)—we have some tried and true tips that never go out of style for this park.

FOOD AND DRINK

50s Prime Time Cafe—Nostalgia is on the menu at this mid-century themed diner. You will be served dinner by your “cousins” and they will not hold back when it comes to making sure you are minding your manners and eating your vegetables. We would suggest an advanced dining reservation if you’d like to eat here, however we’ve managed to snag a day of reservation in the past as well!

Oga’s Cantina—Cue the music! The hottest spot in all the galaxy can be found on Batuu. While you need a reservation to get inside, the wait is worth it. Once inside you will be completely transported into the Star Wars universe, complete with a Droid DJ. If you can’t get a reservation, try going by toward the end of the night; oftentimes there will be just a short wait! See our full review of the Cantina here!

BaseLine Tap House—Confession: Megan and I have never actually been here, however this place seems to exude our essence so this is why it’s on the list. We’ve heard nothing but good things about this tucked away oasis featuring California wine, beer, and an assortment of snacks—talking cheese boards, y’all.

Woody’s Lunch Box—This is our favorite non-Starbucks (aka Trolley Car Cafe) breakfast spot at Studios. We don’t know what we like better, the, breakfast bowl, homemade pop tarts, or breakfast sammies (of which you can get gluten free). See our full review of Woody’s Lunch Box here! Can’t make it to the parks? Megan created a homemade version of the Box Lunch Tarts.

Bonus: Num Num Cookies at The Neighborhood Bakery stand. This shop is only open certain hours, however if you can snag a num num cookie do not let this opportunity pass you by.

FUN

Slinky Dog Dash—Love coasters but hate going upside down? This fast-paced addition to the park gives thrills while also being accessible to the entire family.

Tower of Terror—Possibly our favorite thrill ride in the entire park, we never pass up a fast pass to the most haunted hotel around. Hot tip: do not ride immediately following a lunch a the 50s Prime Time Cafe.

Toy Story Mania—Raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimized by the ring toss portion of this ride. Regardless of skill, this ride is sure to put a smile on your face!

Beauty and the Beast—Live on Stage—Come for the perfect mini version of the Broadway Show, stay for the impeccable rendition of the title song by Celine Dion once it’s over.

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular—Listen, are the jokes corny? Yes. Is it the same show that’s been running for 30 years? Also yes. And that’s what makes it great. I will never not gasp when that boulder comes for Indy, and I will never not pretend that it’s actually Steve from Full House.

Fantasmic—Now that Wishes has been retired, this is arguably our favorite night show. Historically this show has been offered twice; if going to the early show make sure you line up early, however the late show typically is easier to get into. Try not to cry when you hear the opening music and see Mickey conducting the music and water—it’s magical!

With the additions of Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has once again become a destination park. What’s your favorite thing to do when visiting? Tell us in the comments!
