HAPPILY EVER TRON
Do you ever have those Disney trips where the Pixie Dust is just on your side and so much magic happens? That was our most recent trip in April.
Starting with the timing. A real conversation I had with my husband:
Me: Hey so you know that fireworks show at Disney that we are so excited is coming back?
Taylor: Yes…
Me: Well it’s coming back the day before the new Tron rollercoaster opens!
Taylor: Very cool.
Me: And the dates happen to line up with Allison’s Spring Break from school…
Taylor: *rolls eyes and walks away*
So clearly, we were booking a trip. How could we not?! And the magic just kept coming from there. Starting with:
Dining reservations: We’ve definitely had recent experiences where the Disney dining reservation gods have not been on our side, but this trip, they smiled on us! We had some help from Touring Plans dining reservation finder, and we highly recommend! Our biggest get was a reso at Space 220, which I think we have tried for the past four trips we’ve been on, lunch at Cinderella’s Royal Table and lunch at the brand new Roundup Rodeo BBQ. Both were incredible, and we’ll share more soon! The biggest get of all, though, was one that we had to stalk the Disney reservation page multiple times daily to get. We knew the crowds for the return of Happily Ever After would be crazy, and we knew that the reserved viewing area that comes with the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party was going to be A. well worth it and B. nearly impossible to get. But thanks to diligence, waking up at ungodly hours and Pixie Dust, WE GOT IT.
Our princess room was ready at Port Orleans when we arrived at 9 am! Listen, we are no strangers to a quick post-flight refresh in a public restroom, dropping our bags and heading to the Parks, but it was so nice that we could get ready in our room after an early flight and get to the parks by 10 am! We’d also never stayed in the princess-themed rooms at Port Orleans Riverside, and we were delighted by all the magical details!
Happily Ever After: Again, having the reserved viewing area for the return of this incredible fireworks show was clutch. We had the post-party booked, which meant we could get to the viewing area about an hour and a half before showtime and have a great view. Respect to the folks who staked out their spots starting at 10 am! The desserts were also a lovely treat to end the day, of course!
TRON: We were nervous about being to get either a spot in the Virtual Queue or an Individual Lightning Lane on Tron’s opening day. We had a strategy and had our phones ready to go at 6:59:59 am, and to our delight, we got both?! We both checked the reservations a million times because it felt almost too easy. When you’ve been burned by Genie+ glitches watching Rise of the Resistance Lightning Lanes slip away before your eyes, this felt extra magical!
Keys to the Kingdom Tour: Allison surprised me with this exciting VIP tour that gives your backstage access to Disney magic making for my birthday! They have a very strict policy against taking photos on the tour, but we loved learning so many fun tidbits and getting access to extra magic along the way!
We had such a late flight out on our last day (that actually got delayed multiple times) that we had time to relax at Port Orleans Riverside and dip our tired toesies in the pool. It was the perfect, relaxing way to end a whirlwind magical trip!
