One Dream: How to Manage Your Disney World Vacation Plans

One of the most common things we hear when someone is planning their Disney vacation is, “There is so much to do at Disney World! How do you do it all in one trip?!” Short answer: we don’t. Years ago, we implemented a system we call “One Dream,” and it has really helped take the pressure off of our time at Disney feeling like we have to do everything!

It’s a simple system: everyone in our travel party gets to pick one dream. What’s the thing they really want most to do or see, the thing they want to eat (for me, my dreams usually involve eating) or the experience they want to have. We all share our dreams before the trip, and as a group, we make each person’s dream our priority. If those are the only things we get done, then the trip is a success! We also know that we’ll be back at some point, even if we don’t have our next trip planned. Our current trip countdown is 12 days! How about you?

To share some examples, on our most recent trip our dreams were:

  • John: to get the Sam Eagle Sipper at Regal Eagle Smokehouse

  • Taylor: to ride Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind

  • Allison: to see the Grand Floridian lobby (we heard they plan to refurbish, and she wanted to see it for the nostalgia before any changes were made!)

  • Megan: to see Fantasmic!
