Try the Grey Stuff (It's Delicious!): The 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival
If there are two things we love in this world it's food and wine. Luckily, Walt Disney World holds an annual festival at Epcot dedicated to these two things! We're breaking down our favorite dishes from this year's International Food and Wine Festival.
The Food
While we didn't stop at every booth, we did manage to find several favorites throughout the World Showcase. These included the Ropa Vieja Empanada with tomato aioli from Islands of the Caribbean, the Schinkennudeln from Germany, the Ravioli Carbonara from Italy, the Boeuf Braise a la Bordelaise with Pomme Dauphine from France, and one of my all time Food and Wine favorites, the Pão de Queijo from Brazil. Seriously. I dream about that cheese bread on the regular.
Dishes we would have skipped include the chicken dumplings and black pepper shrimp from China, the Passion Fruit Cheesecake with toasted macadamia nuts from Hawaii, and the dark chocolate raspberry tart from the Chocolate Studio. While nothing was terrible, I wouldn’t waste your time or tummy space on any of those dishes.
We also loved marking off everything we ate and drank in our festival passports! This year the stickers for each location alternated in colors which added a whole new fun dimension to the experience.
The Wine
While there are a lot of fun adult beverage options available at the festival, we stuck primarily to wine. We visited the new Appleseed Orchard (and while we felt the line was too long to get cider) we did get a tip that the Amavi Cellars Syrah was the wine to get. While I’m not typically a red wine drinker I found it delicious and a perfect way to start off our evening.
The rest of the night was dedicated to sparkling beverages, with the Villa Sandi prosecco from Italy and the Kir a la Grenade in France. However, our favorite booth to get drinks was "Shimmering Sips,” which featured a mimosa flight with a tropical mimosa, blood orange mimosa, and key lime mimosa. We also ended the night here with a few glasses of the brut. This is also where you can grab the Instagram-worthy shimmering strawberry soft-serve in a waffle cone.
The Merch
There was SO much great merchandise this year at the festival. From wine glasses to salt shakers there is something for everyone to bring home. Click through the gallery below for some of the merchandise options!
