Review: Citricos at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

It’s no secret that Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is my nostalgic favorite resort on property, and I love getting a chance to visit whenever I have a chance. When Amy and I traveled to the World in November, we got into Orlando early enough to enjoy some resort hoping and dining. We chose to head over to the Grand Floridian to check out the (new to us) redesign of Citricos, which got a menu and theme revamp in 2021.

Because the restaurant redesign is based off of the 2018 film Mary Poppins Returns, I decided to do a light Mary Poppins-bound (shoutout to Hill House for having a Nap Dress for literally every occasion) and paired it with an adorable pair of Poppins earrings that Megan brought me back from a boutique in Spain! We unfortunately did not do a great job of capturing the decor in the space, which was minimal. Honestly, if I didn’t know to look for the Mary Poppins theming I might have missed it entirely.

Because we are who we are, Amy and I had done some EXTENSIVE menu research before arriving, and therefore had a pretty decent idea of what we ring. The old Citricos had a Mediterranean-based menu, while the new one is more focused on local and available products. Because of this not everything we ate at our meal is still available, however overall we loved our dining experience.

We both started with cocktails; Amy got the Passion Margarita, and I enjoyed the Amaro Grapefruit Spritz.

We had such a hard time deciding what to finally order for dinner, and at one point were considering three appetizers, two entrees, and a side of truffle mac and cheese. However we ultimately narrowed it down to two appetizers—the mushroom arancini and a duck confit pasta appetizer that seems to be off the menu at the moment (but was our standout of the meal) and two entrees—the guava-barbecued short ribs and the sustainable fish. We also treated ourselves to a glass of wine each…which is probably how we ended up spending about $75 down at the Gingerbread House display after dinner. Whoops! We ended our dinner with a passionfruit tart.

Overall we really enjoyed our meal at Citricos. While I would agree with the criticism that the theming could be stronger, the food and drinks were fantastic and we had a lovely experience. I look forward to dining there again soon!
