Recap: Regal Eagle Smokehouse

Well, Walt Disney World, you did it. You found a way to get me into an American BBQ restaurant at the World Showcase when I am surrounded by various delightful international cuisines and snacks. All it took was the patriotic bird CA-CAW of a Sam the Eagle sipper. Capitalism at its finest. Sam himself couldn’t have done it better. 

But wait…could it be…that the bbq at this American pavilion was actually delicious? Yes, my fellow Americans, it is. And I’m so glad that beautiful blue bird got me in the door!

My husband (a Muppets aficionado) and I decided to split a meal so that we would be able to continue snacking our way around the world. We opted to enjoy the Sliced Texas Beef Brisket sandwich, because, well, brisket. We overheard the cast member at the cashier give a plug for the macaroni and cheese (it’s made in house) and selected that as our side. We also couldn’t resist the addition of the Banana Pudding, which has since been rebranded as Tiana’s Banana Pudding since our visit.

Now, people have a lot of thoughts on the bbq from Missouri (you’re usually either team KC or team STL) but honestly I love it all. That being said, we did have high expectations because we are used to delicious bbq. I am so happy to report that the meal did not disappoint! The brisket was flavorful and the Texas Toast was the perfect amount of soft and buttery. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and flavorful. And the banana pudding was literally the icing on top of the cake. Of course the whole meal was all the more whimsical because of the various Muppet art work surrounding the restaurant and the fact we were sipping soda out of Sam the Eagle’s head. 
The rest of our party also enjoyed their meals; Taylor got the pulled pork sandwich with macaroni and cheese, and they were able to accommodate Megan with gluten free bread for her brisket sandwich with a side of french fries!

Overall, I take back the snobbery I associated with eating at the Regal Eagle Smokehouse. I still would argue there are more exciting cuisines to try throughout the pavilions, however if you are looking for a guaranteed delicious meal that will leave you satisfied we give it our wholehearted recommendation!
