Review: Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club Resort

A few weeks ago I had the chance to return to the most magical place on Earth for a quick visit for my birthday. Although the visit was short, I made it my goal to revisit as many Disney eats as I possibly could in 48 hours, including Mickey Waffles. Luckily, we were able to snag a reservation at the newly reopened Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club Resort.

Because we were staying at Coronado Springs, we had to grab an Uber over to the Beach Club. However, we had plans to go to EPCOT later in the day, so this breakfast location was ideal for a post-breakfast jaunt over to the International Gateway. This location typically features a character breakfast and a buffet, however upon its reopening post-COVID closure it is now a meal served family style and no characters were present.

Having never had the buffet at Cape May, I don’t have anything to compare the experience with. However we really enjoyed our breakfast experience! The first course consisted of an assortment of bread and pastries with a variety of spreads including butter, Nutella, and jam. However I would advise against filling up on these, as you have more goodies to come! (Note: I did not do this and lived to regret it as I had to leave a Mickey waffle behind).

Next we were treated with some Greek yogurt with granola and some fresh fruit. At this point in the meal we were given the option to order omelets a la carte, but we decided to save room for the main course, which turned out to be the right call (though I’m sure the omelettes are delicious!)

The final and main course for Cafe May is fairly standard Disney breakfast fare, which means… I loved it. Included were Mickey Waffles, pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, sausage links, bacon, tater tots, and a breakfast hash. We were also able to almost immediately put in an order for more Mickey waffles, which, of course, we did. All of the food was good, though there was nothing supremely unique about the experience. However, as we had a full day planned of eating and drinking around EPCOT, this was exactly the hearty fare we needed to start the day off on a successful foot.

Have you been to Cape May Cafe before or during Covid? How do you think the experience stacks up to other breakfast options on property? Let us know in the comments!
