Baby Mine: Throwing the Most Magical Baby Shower on Earth!
To say I was excited to throw Megan a baby shower is an understatement. I am so excited to welcome a new #pixiedustpal into the world and knew that this shower couldn’t be any ordinary shower. With the help of two of our favorite #pixiedustpals Amy and Andrea we were able to wave our magic wand, and before you can say bibbidi bobbidi boo we had a plan to throw Megan the most magical baby shower on earth.
Step One: The Theme
We knew we wanted to create a Disney-themed shower, but we weren’t quite sure where to begin! Our first instinct was to follow through with Megan’s “Up” wedding details to create an “Up” baby shower. We also thought about creating a Small World themed shower to mimic Megan’s nursery plans (post about that coming soon!). However we ultimately decided to create a shower that celebrated our favorite park: The Magic Kingdom.
Step Two: The Invitation
After perusing Etsy for what felt like days, we finally discovered these amazing old school Fast Pass invitations courtesy of Main Street Designs. They were a digital download which made turning them into an evite super efficient and simple.
Step Three: The Menu
Megan’s favorite foods are “party foods,” so when it came to deciding on the menu for her shower we knew we weren’t going to go with traditional baby shower fare. We instead decided to create dishes that represented each of the areas of the Magic Kingdom park. We found these adorable signs created by East Coast Cuts on Etsy that made it super simple for guests to recognize which food was from which area of the kingdom. For our menu we did the following:
Main Street USA: Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie Treats
Liberty Square: Gluten Free Corndogs
Fantasyland: Small World Cookies
Adventureland: Pineapple, orange and coconut fruit cups
Frontierland: Buffalo Chicken Dip
Tomorrowland: The Defined Dish Flying Saucer Pizza Bites (made to perfection by Amy)
Magic Kingdom: The Defined Dish Macaroni and Cheese (we felt like we needed more food and decided that the essence of the Magic Kingdom was mac and cheese).
We completed our menu with our best take on POG Juice (including POGmosas for those of us who are not expecting).
Step Four: The Decorations
I have many strengths, however decorating and crafting is not one of them. Andrea took the lead on the decor and used simple touches to a big effect. For table placements she bought a set of Disney Golden Books and placed each book around a mason jar full of daisies. Then, Megan got to take the books and flowers home with her!
For a banner she strung pages of an old golden book she got from Goodwill with tissue paper pom poms. We hung this over a projected image of Cinderella Castle on the TV to make us feel were were in our favorite place on earth.
Megan is known for her legendary photo booths so we knew we had to create a photo opportunity. Andrea went above and beyond and cut up plastic tablecloths and hung them from a string that featured a balloon canopy. We then grabbed a bunch of Minnie Ears from my costume box (it is normal for a 30-year-old woman to have a costume box…right? Also side note…can you ever have too many Minnie ears?) for our photo booth props.
For a final touch we posted the Magic Kingdom welcome quote on the door.
Party City was our friend when looking for cutlery and plates. We got white plates with gold rims to mimic the exterior of “Small World” and got teal cutlery to not only add a splash of color to our table settings, but also because Megan is having a boy! We put this cutlery in Disney mugs I already owned, proving that you can truly never own too many Disney mugs.
In order to complete the ambiance we created a Disney Parks Playlist on Spotify that allowed us to truly feel like we were in the Magic Kingdom.
Step Five: The Celebration
We had so much fun celebrating Megan and Baby at her Magic Kingdom themed shower. We can’t wait to meet Baby and introduce him for real to the Magic Kingdom when he arrives!
