Review: Satu'li Canteen at Pandora

Let’s be real. While Disney food can be delicious, it can be challenging to find a dining option that doesn’t totally destroy your diet. Although we have a firm belief that the amount of walking you’ll do on a Disney vacation completely negates anything you might eat, sometimes it’s nice to have a slightly fresher option for a meal (especially if you plan on indulging in both a Mickey Premium and Mickey Rice Krispy later that day on Main Street). Luckily, the introduction of Pandora to Disney’s Animal Kingdom solved this problem with the dining options available at Satu’li Canteen.

I’ll admit off the bat I’m not a huge Avatar fan, and honestly I could take or leave the theming of this restaurant. However what I can’t take or leave is the delectable aroma that greets you upon entering. If you look to your left you’ll see where it’s coming from—multiple varieties of meat roasting on an open spit. We. Love. To. See. It.

One of the things that makes this such a great dining experiences is the ability to customize your order. You choose your protein, your base, and your sauce from a variety of options. You can also do this if you choose to do the Mobile Order option though it isn’t completely clear at first how to take advantage of this. However, once you’ve selected an option you can make adjustments. We tried both the shrimp and the chicken and loved them both!

We definitely recommend making a stop at the Satu’li Canteen the next time you find yourself at Animal Kingdom. The food is delicious, and unlike other restaurants on property you might actually be able to ride Expedition Everest immediately afterward without feeling like Ariel once she gets her human legs.
