Cheers to Disney Cast Members
We, like so many others, were saddened to see the news release yesterday stating that Disney Parks would be laying off approximately 28,000 workers. Cast members play such a pivotal role in the enjoyment of a Disney trip, and we wanted to take this time to highlight some of our favorite cast member memories. We also would like to encourage those who would like to help spread some Disney magic to those who have done so much to provide joy by purchasing something from the Disney Cast Member Pantry Wish List on Amazon put together by a furloughed cast member.
You can also join us in running (or walking) the Foamily 5K – registration is $5 and you get an adorable printable bib. All proceeds support Cast Members in need!
Here are some of our favorite memories featuring Disney Cast Members.
Space Mountain Magic
When attending our friend Andrea’s Bachelorette Party, we were unable to get fast passes to her favorite ride, Space Mountain. On our last day of the trip we hustled over to the Magic Kingdom in hopes we could jump on the ride before watching the fireworks. Unfortunately the wait was almost two hours. Undeterred, we decided to approach Austin, the cast member at the front of the fast pass line. We asked if it would be possible to for Andrea and her sister Jackie to get fast passes to ride Space Mountain. Sweet Austin did us one better—he gave the entire bachelorette party fast passes for the ride. We were so surprised and excited. Austin, if you ever read this, you are a darling and we appreciate you!!
First time in Disneyland Magic
Although I had been to Disney World many times growing up, I didn’t make it out to the original park until a few years ago. I was so excited to wear my “1st Time” button and thank goodness I was! Two cast members stopped our group when they saw it was my (and Andrea’s) first time at Disneyland. They made us answer a few questions of Disney Trivia (which we crushed) and then gifted us with several fast passes (and some stickers). This made our short trip even more special!
Bachelorette Goodies
I’ve been to two different Bachelorette parties at Walt Disney World, and each time cast members have gone above and beyond to make the experience special. At two different restaurants we were greeted with a special (and free) dessert platter celebrating the bride-to-be.
We would also like to generally shout out the following groups:
The women at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique who consistently agree to sprinkle pixie dust on grown women
The servers at Prime Time Cafe. You do the most and we love it
The staff at Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror who really lean into the creepiness of the locations. We both hate and love it.
