Giving Thanks: Disney Parks Edition
This year, as Thanksgiving approaches, we are all feeling thankful for things we used to take for granted, including a healthy family, toilet paper on the shelves at the grocery store, and the never-ending catalog of films and tv shows on streaming services. Along that same vein we wanted to point out a few things we are grateful for at Walt Disney World that in the past we have taken for granted. Now, with no idea of when we’ll return, we find ourselves nostalgic for even the most insignificant-seeming element of the parks.
We are grateful for the following:
The way the smell of pie lingers during Mickey’s Philharmagic
That feeling you get when you turn the corner of Main Street and see the castle for the first time on a visit
The delightfully gentle scolding from the “No need to run for the bus” signs after we’ve just sprinted for said bus
Cast Members who fully commit to their attraction persona—we’re talking about those Jungle Cruise skippers, Haunted Mansion staff, and Tower of Terror staff.
Those extra steps you get for backtracking back to France to get yet another glass of champagne
Getting yelled at for not eating your vegetables at the 50s Prime Time Cafe
The feeling of true terror you get when the dinosaur comes at your on Dinosaur
Thinking fish and chips is an acceptable breakfast the moment the World Showcase opens
The very specific scent of the water on It’s A Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean
The feeling of excitement you get the moment the lights turn off on Main Street, just before the fireworks begin
We are also grateful for everyone who supports our blog and Instagram account every week. We started this account a little over two years ago as a way for us to stay connected while living over 350 miles away from each other, and we are truly grateful for the joy it brings to us. We hope you feel some of that joy too!
