For the First Time in Forever: Frozen Brunch
On the list of things I truly love in life, Disney, theme parties and brunch rank rather highly. I combined those passions this week to throw a Frozen themed brunch for my gal pals! Thanks to my new favorite book, Entertaining with Disney: Exceptional Events From Mickey Mouse to Moana! by Amy Croushorn, it was an easy and fun event to plan and execute.
First of all, this book is amazing. It has so many cute ideas and different events you can host from a Little Mermaid themed bridal shower to a Queen of Hearts themed garden party. The great thing is that you can also make any theme fit your event so even if you’re not throwing a bridal shower, you can still use the Little Mermaid ideas! Though I wanted to throw every party immediately, I landed on Frozen brunch because the timing was perfect with the release of Frozen 2 and because Elsa decide fall was canceled in Wisconsin so we might as well lean into the winter. The author walks you through each event, sharing simple recipes and decoration ideas, and there are easy printables you can download from a website to add that extra touch to your party! The book even shares a timeline for planning so you aren’t rushing to put everything together at the last minute.
I started early gathering my decor pieces and easily found cute snowflake garland, ornament favors and place mats at local craft stores like Hobby Lobby and Michael’s. I also ordered a few items from Amazon: the snowflake table cloth, napkins, snowflake stirrers and favor boxes were delivered directly to my door thanks to the wizards at Amazon Prime.
The book makes it easy to create your grocery list, and most of the recipes for this one were very simple. I was able to make easy changes to make the recipes gluten free, i.e. buying GF frozen waffles in addition to regular waffles and using GF bagels for Anna’s Breakfast Sandwiches. One of my favorite features was the Elsa’s White Hot Chocolate bar where you can build your own snowman. I went a bit off script here as the book called for an egg nog, which isn’t exactly my thing. I’ve made this white hot chocolate for Christmas brunch for years and it’s always a hit. I would recommend Michael’s baking aisle to find the sprinkles to make your own Olaf!
It even started to snow as my guests were leaving – thanks, Elsa – so it’s safe to say my crew is ready for Frozen 2!
