The Rain Never Bothered Us Anyway
So you’re finally getting close to that Disney vacation you planned and dreamed of for so long. Excitedly you pull up your weather app to see what kind of attire you’ll need to pack and your heart sinks when you see RAIN forecasted every day you’re in the Parks. Worry not! We actually enjoy a rainy day at the most magical place on earth, and you can too!
First off, it’s central Florida so it’s pretty normal to have rain in the forecast every day. This doesn’t necessarily mean it will rain all day every day, but it is normal to have a pop up shower or two throughout the day. Even if it does rain all day, we promise your trip is not ruined! Here’s why:
Decreased crowds: truth be told, the rain does bother some people. Inevitably, some of them will be scared off by the rain, especially if they have flexible plans. With less folks, you might find shorter waits so embrace those rain drops! I promise the line for Splash Mountain will be a short one and heck, if you’re already wet, why not?!
Poncho fashion: we love the Walt Disney World ponchos and even on days calling for 100% sun, we always have one packed in our park bag. Be sure to pack in a Ziplock or waterproof bag so your poncho doesn’t get the rest of your things wet when you put it back in your bag. We also are sure to take our ponchos out of our bags to hang dry in the shower overnight!
Indoor activities: Yes, a lot of things in the Parks are outdoors, but there are plenty of indoor attractions to try while it rains, such as shows or rides with long indoor waits. You could always watch Mickey’s Philharmagic five times in a row (it will be just as magical every time!). We also find a rainstorm is a great time to shop or sit down to eat at a restaurant.
Rainy Day Cavalcade: while rain might affect some of your favorite rides and attractions, Disney also provides special experiences, like the Rainy Day Cavalcade, which takes place of the standard parade.
One of our most memorable trips, it rained every day almost all day. We had so much fun splashing around the World and the characters and Cast Members work to make it magical. Honestly, watching Duffy the Disney Bear jumping in puddles is one of the cutest things I’ve seen in real life to date. So if it rains during your trip, put on your poncho, put on a smile and embrace it!
